So Keith Doesn't Vote. Big Deal. Part 2

I Constantly Reconsider It (128+ / 0-)

But I've analogized it here many times to my days in sports.
When I found myself personally invested in the athletes I covered - had a meal with some, professionally friendly, that sort of stuff - there was actually a drag on my willingness to criticize them on the air.
Not good.
And I felt it again last spring (ironically enough) about criticizing Senator Clinton (yes, I know her supporters will spit soup over this). But you may recall I was accused, as late as January, of being "in the tank for Hillary," and even that slightest personal connection provided by the Clintons' support of The Special Comments made me hesitate or delay my criticism.
I think that voting for a candidate would create the same investment for me. I doubt anybody else would feel that way, but that's my standard.
And yes, if circumstances demanded that I had to walk on the edge of the cliff, and vote, I would do so.

I don't really care if Keith votes or not. There are a lot of people that don't. But his reasoning behind it is lame. It's as if he thinks that if he votes for a candidate then he's automatically their friend. And they should go out to dinner together. Or he should be invited to their parties.
That's just plain ridiculous. Who the hell does he think he is?
I think it's funny that he keeps explaining this in this manner. Sports and politics are two different things. Nobody said you had to rub elbows with a politician just because you voted for them.
If anything, it would give him more reason and a better position to go after them if they screw up. Nobody has to know whether you voted for them or not.
God, what a dumbass.

He really thought his fans would uphold him on this one and instead he's gotten his ass handed to him from every liberal website there is for it. And as we all know, he can't stand to be criticized. So now he's trying to pull another reason out of his ample backside as to why it's a good thing he doesn't vote. What Keith doesn't seem to get is that not voting undermines his credibility with the masses--how can you possibly care that much about your little special comments if you're not even willing to vote? Why should they put any faith in him at all w/his little rants if he doesn't even care enough to vote? He just doesn't get why the fans are so upset about this and he really believes he can reason with them and they'll buy his weak reasons for not voting. No sale Keith. Not this time. The good news is that a few more of his loyal and faithful are getting a good close up look at the real man and what they're seeing isn't very pretty at all.

Sports is all he's had to compare this to, so he's only doing what he has already practiced. It doesn't seem to have occurred to him that one rationale for one set of circumstances do not fit this other set of circumstances. Now he is stuck trying to defend himself for something that he never needed to bring up. He could simply have been an Independent voter, who doesn't divulge who he voted for.

His justification relies on his telling everyone who he intends to vote for--if he was registered, and intended to vote. Ridiculous!

If he doesn't want to seem biased, then he shouldn't pal around with famous sports figures and politicians. And if he did choose to do that, how does telling everyone he doesn't vote mitigate the perception that he is biased if he socializes with these people? It doesn't.

Another KO fan website shuttered their doors this week.

Yeah, I saw that.

Hopefully, by May, or maybe before then, this site will be closed as well.
So far everything is going the way I want it to.
I'll keep y'all posted.

Any hints as to what you'll be doing or what the change is in your life?

Flowergirl-how could you possibly replace Keith Olbermann's Ego with another man?

LOL. It's pretty easy actually. See, I prefer someone who is more interested in me than he is himself.

This is how he starts off his vacation??? Still defending his 'not voting' at the Daily Kos blog...man, he really needs to get a life...or at least enjoy the one he should be living...(lets see, new 7.5 mil contract, living with a chick half his age, great cable ratings, NBC football gig, Obama won---and he's still blogging about not voting).

Just think, 20 years from now, he can tell his kids how he DIDN'T vote in one of the most important elections in his lifetime and history---as flowergirl said so perfectly, 'God, what a dumbass.'

Kids? God forbid.

I agree. And I would feel sorry for the kids. They'd grow up to be jerks and not have any friends.
Hmm, just like Keith.
